Another Blog entry

I just finished watching Jay Leno’s Garage. He was interviewing a guy who had done a RestoMod on a 1973 Mazda Rx-3. It reminded me that Charla and Ronnie bought one like this right after they got married. I was at their house one night and decided for some reason that I needed to move their car. I don’t remember if it needed to be moved or if I just decided that I wanted to drive it, but, at any rate; I did.

The next thing I remember is that I got the right side of the car up against a tree. I didn’t run into the tree, I just managed to get the car up against it. Then, instead of taking my losses and leaving the car and getting someone who actually knew how to drive to get it clear of the tree hopefully without too much damage, I decided to do it myself, with less than stellar results.

I did significant damage to their new car in the process. They weren’t exactly rolling in dough at the time, and I’m pretty sure this was the first new car they had purchased as a newly married couple. I am pretty sure also that I wasn’t nearly as contrite and begging for forgiveness as I should have been.

I don’t remember what happened after that. I don’t remember if they ever got that damage fixed or not. It didn’t cost me anything dollarwise. Not one of the proudest moments from my youth.
