This is a short video about a restored Freightliner cabover. I love this truck. It’s a beautiful restoration. It’s a shame that cabovers have fallen out of favor, although that is mostly just nostalgia. They aren’t as comfortable for drivers and don’t get the fuel economy because that big old front isn’t aerodynamic.
I never drove a Freightliner, cabover or conventional, at least not on any kind of regular basis. This truck also has a Detroit engine. I never drove anything with a Detroit, but, boy does it have a great sound! I always had the impression that Detroit engines weren’t that reliable, but that is purely anecdotal; it’s not based on hard data.
